Primocane leaves
pinnately or palmately compound, felted-hairy beneath. Stipules persistent,
fused to the petiole. Fruits freely falling intact from the receptacle. Sepals
long-tapered to a filiform tip. About 135 species, throughout the Northern
Hemisphere, also in New Guinea and Australia, most diverse in China.
