Annual or short-living perennial, velvety and finely puberulent, bearing glandular hairs, aromatic, 25-120 cm. Stems more or less erect, branching. Leaves short-petioled, oblong to lanceolate, mostly sinuate-dentate, upper leaves entire or nearly so, all with yellowish glands on lower surface. Flowers in dense clusters, forming elongated spike-like bracteose inflorescence. Perianth about 1.5 mm., completely enclosing fruit; tepals 4-5, united at base to their middle, not keeled. Stamens 4-5. Pericarp rather thin, with glandular hairs at upper part. Seeds mostly horizontal, glossy. Fl. March-October (December).
