Shrub 1-1.5 m tall. Branches suberect, green, densely pilose, with numerous recurved prickles and stalked glands. Leaves ternate. Blade of terminal leaflet broadly ovate and usually shallowly few-lobed, 3-8 x 2.5-7 cm, base rounded to shallowly cordate. Blade of lateral leaflets ovate, 1.5-5 x 1-4 cm, base cuneate. Apex acute, margin doubly serrate, leaf surface adaxially sparsely hairy, abaxially white velutinous, midrib long hairy and sometimes with prickles. Petiole 2-5 cmlong, pilose and with recurved prickles, petiolules of terminal leaflets 1-5 cmlong, petiolules of lateral leaflets 1-3 mm longto subsessile. Stipules linear, 0.5-1.5 cmlong, pilose and often with stalked glands. Inflorescence terminal and axillary, 2-15 flowered, racemose or paniculate. Flowers 1-1.2 cm in diameter. Pedicel 2-8 cmlong, pilose, stalked glandular and often with stiff hooked prickles. Bracts linear, 3-7 mmlong, white tomentose and stalked glandular.Hypanthium cupular, white tomentose and pilose. Sepals5-15 mmlong, ovate, entire, erect at anthesis, pilose, apex acute. Petals 4 x 3-4 mm, pink, glabrous, sub-orbicular, apex rounded, base shortly clawed. Stamens ca. 4 mm long, numerous, filaments linear, tapering from base to apex. Carpels longer than stamens, white pilose, style white sericeous at base. Drupetum ellipsoid to subglobose, 1-2 cm in diameter. Drupelets orange-yellow, pilose. Pyrenes ovoid, reticulate.
