This species has been collected very few times, and is very poorly known. It appears to be a specialist in an unusual habitat, on limestone substrates that are indundated by blackwaters (G. Aymard, pers. comm.) or otherwise combine white-water rivers with vegetation typical of blackwater, white sand ecosystems (Arellano Peña et al., 2019). 

Neotropics: lowland wet forests, Amazonian northwestern Brazil and eastern Colombia.
