Type : Type: Described from the Zeravchan valley (LE).
Distribution : Distribution: C. Asia (W. Tien Shan, Pamir-Alai) and Kurram area-adjoining Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Comment/Acknowledgements : According to V. Melzheimer (Botanic Garden, Marburg, W. Germany) type specimen of Silene macronychia matches the type of S. ovalifolia. Aitchis on. 473 (Photo!, G) matches the description given by Komarov (l.c., under M. ovalifolium). Found in rocky and stony areas between 1300-3400 m.

A perennial with glandular-pubescent parts. Leaves ovate to broadly acuminate. Flowers 1-3 in number, in terminal dichasia. Flowers white or violet. Calyx cylindrical-clavate with long subulate teeth. Petals c. twice calyx length; limb bifid. Capsule ovoid.
