Taxon Summary     (Last Modified On 5/30/2012)
General notes: Fosberg (1993) found that the type of Daphne foetida L.f. in LINN-SM belonged to Ixora (Rubiaceae) and provided the new combination Ixora foetida (L.f.) Fosberg.

Halda (2001) united Wikstroemia with Daphne and recognized W. coriacea with his replacement name Daphne confusa, and noted that the species was common and widespread in Polynesia and especially the Society Islands. The limits of the species are unclear. A comprehensive taxonomic reevaluation is needed for the species complex, which includes W. indica and closely related taxa from other surrounding Pacific island groups.
