Distribution: Mussoorie eastward to Kashmir, Chitral.

Comment/Acknowledgements: Bruehl gives a different spelling for the name of the variety as Aquilegia vulgaris L. var. massariensis (Bruehl in J. Asiat. Soc. Bengal 60(½):311.1893). Munz (op.cit.) considers var. cunninghami Bruehl, 1.c. as probably identical with var. mussooriensis. Only the length of the petal differentiates it from the description of Aquilegia cymosa as given by the authors.
