Glabrous-pubescent, 5-15 cm high, perennial herb. Rhizome short, tufted, densely coverd with remnant of petioles and stipules. Root smooth, slender. Stem absent. Leaves 1.5-6.0 x 0.5-4.5 cm, ovate-triangular, cordate or angustate or truncate, acute, multicrenulate, crenae 18 in number, up to 30-35 in summer forms; glabrous-pubescent, pubescence mainly at the veins of lower side, petiole 1.5-8.0 cm long; glabrous-pubescent, winged, stipule 0.5-1.5 x 0.3-0.7 cm, adnate till middle, fimbriate, fimbriae free. Flowers fragrant. Sepals ovate-lanceolate, acute, rarely acuminate, subangustate-truncate, margins membranaceous. Petals violaceous, oblong-obovate, lateral slightly longer than rest, barbate; spur thick, 5-7 mm long, straight-subcuneate; ovary glabrous; style subgeniculate at base, clavate, marginate; stigma beaked, beak directed forward. Capsule subglobose, 0.6-1.0 cm long.
