Comment/Acknowledgements: The species is often cultivated, so that its natural range of distribution is obscured. The above cited specimen is the only record from here and is probably cultivated.

Herbaceous annual, 15-30 (-60) cm tall. Stem thick, angular, brown-pubescent. Leaves sessile, 24-44 mm long, obovate to oblanceolate, obtuse to subacute, glabrous to sparsely hairy on the upper surface, brown-villous on the lower. Flowers solitary, axillary, bracteate, bracts linear, brown-villous. Sepals 6-8 mm long, patent-villous, constricted about the middle, the upper portion ovate to lanceolate, acute, green, the lower convex colorless. Corolla c. 20 mm long, the limb blue, throat yellow, margined with white, villous on the folds outside but the tube glabrous. Ovary pubescent. Capsule pubescent.
