Stem scandent, not spreading. Leaves petioled, shortly pubescent or scabrulous, ovate, 2-4 cm long and as broad; base deeply emarginate, apex acute, margin entire, undulate or denticulate, tendril filiform. Male inflorescence usually 2-flowered, 0.5-1.5 cm long. Calyx tube hemispherical, shortly and sparsely villous, c. 2 mm long, teeth narrowly triangular. Petals yellow, oblong lanceolate, acute, c. 4 mm long. Female inflorescence 1-7 mm long. Fruit deep red, ovoid, sessile, or subsessile 10-25 x 8-12 mm, 1-5 seeded.
