Note: according to Thomas, Brittonia 44: 25 (1992): "misprinted in protologue as 3413 which is R. cernua Griseb."; note on MO copy of Cat. Pl. Cub. in Engelmann's hand agrees. Lectotype designated by Strong & Acevedo-Rodríguez, 2012: 283: P [P00264361, isolectotypes GH, P; they noted that Wright 3410 (which they apparently accept as the correct type number without comment) is a mixed collection with Rhynchospora cernua Griseb. and separated the duplicates of this number into the two species.
