Hypolytrum nicaraguense auct., non Liebm.

Tallos hasta 130 cm, trígonos. Hojas 2-3 cm de ancho, basales y subbasales y unas pocas caulinares, escabriúsculas en los márgenes; vainas amarillentas. Panícula 11-15 cm; ramas escabriúsculas; brácteas superiores linear-lanceoladas. Espigas subsésiles, anchamente elipsoides; bractéolas 2-2.5 mm, oblongo-elípticas, 1-nervias, mucronulatas; espiguillas con glumas 2.5-2.8 mm, lanceoladas, antrorsamente espinulosas sobre la quilla; estilo generalmente persistente. Aquenios 2-2.5 mm, oblongo-lanceolados, subteretes, longitudinalmente rugulosos. Selvas perennifolias. N (Rueda et al. 4453, MO); CR (Gómez-Laurito 6921, CR); P (Ibáñez et al. 8859 AI, PMA). 0-300 m.
