Leaf blades with
the undersurfaces usually strongly whitened and also densely and persistently
hairy at maturity, at least along the main veins. Fruits with the wings 2–3(–4)
cm long. 2n=78. March–April.
Uncommon in the
Mississippi Lowlands Division west locally to Ripley and Wayne
Counties (southeastern U.S. west to Missouri
and Texas). Swamps,
bottomland forests, and sinkhole ponds.
