4. Buglossoides Moench

About 7 species, Europe, Asia, introduced nearly worldwide.

Johnston (1954) resurrected this segregate of Lithospermum based on differences in flower morphology between the two, especially the glandular nectar guides (vs. scales) extending from the corolla throat to the stamens in Buglossoides. Elsewhere, the genus includes both annuals and perennials, with blue or white corollas.
