Type: Holotype: Iran: Fars Province. 10.5 miles SE of Firuzabad, mountain slope (dry limestone) to the NE. common. alt. 4400 ft. Kuh-i-Maimand Range. 1-4 flowers per scape. Tepals bright yellow. Leaves mia-green. Bulbs 1-2 cm below soil surface, 2 March 1971 C. Grey-Wilson & T.F. Hewer 58 (W!; isotypes E,GB, K!).
Distribution: Distribution: Turkmenistan (Badghys), Iran, S. Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, N. W. Pakistan.

Plants in groups, congested, thin, 8-10 cm high. Bulb obliquely-dro p-shaped, up to 1 cm in diameter, 1-2 cm below the surface of the soil, covered by brown, coriaceous, cleaving up tunics, continued into a short neck. Roots loosely braided, thin, sclerified. Vegetative bulbil single, semi-dro p-shaped. Peduncle 3-6 cm in height, roundish in T.S. Basal leaves 2, exceeding the inflorescence, filiform, curved in T.S., grooved-pentahedral, less than 1 mm broad. Leaves on peduncle 2-4, alternate, getting smaller upwards, filiform, gradually narrowed to the tip. Inflorescence (2-)3-4-flowered, pedicels 3-5 times exceeding the length of tepals, get elongated during flowering. Tepals lanceolate, 6-7 mm long, brightly yellow, internal tepals longer. Anthers yellow. Ovary oblong, sessile.
