Arboles 15--20 m de alto. Hojas (3) 4 or 5-folioladas, folíolos wide elípticos u obovados, 9--31 cm de largo y 4.5--16 cm de ancho, ápice cortamente acuminado, ultimately emarginado, base cuneada, margen inconspicuamente crenado, ligeramente revoluto, adaxially puberulent or glabrous, glabrous except for puberulent midrib, abaxially puberulent on midrib, trichomes to 0.03 mm long, papiráceos a cartáceos, peciólulos 3--15 mm de largo, puberulent; pecíolos 7.5--27 cm de largo. Inflorecences minutely puberulent with trichomes to ca. 0.03 mm, or with somewhat longer trichomes near base; pedicels 2.5--6 mm; flower with calyx 0.5--1 mm, weakly lobed, repand to entire, glabrous; petal 2.5--3.5 mm long y 1--2 mm wide, glabrous; stamens with filamens 1.5--2.5 mm long y 0.25--0.5 mm wide; ovary stigma with 3--5 lobes. Drupa globosa, 3--5 cm diameter, glabrous, when fresh epicarp whitish-gray or green, more or less covered with numerous lenticels, hard and brittle, breaking into pieces under pressure, mesocarp white and creamy with sweet flavor, when dry epicarp 4—5 mm thick, externally whitish-gray or brown, commonly cracked, internally light brown, appearing irregularly granular, mesocarp pale brown to off-white.

Uncommon, dry or semi-evergreen forest, pacific, 40--800 (1100) m,fl oct-dic,  fr dic-feb, Holt 911, Sandino 4077; Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
