This species is characterized by its reduced stipules, long white corollas, and relatively large fruits with thin-walled pyrenes. It appears to belong to a group of Palicourea species with adaptations for nocturnal pollination (Taylor et al., 2010). Palicourea eurycarpa is similar to Palicourea calidicola, which is found at lower elevations.
