Notes:
This species is characterized by its medium-sized leaves, reduced laminar stipules, pyramidal to corymbiform inflorescences with the flowers sessile in small groups on dichasial axes, well developed white corollas, and rather larger fruits fruits with thin-walled pyrenes. It appears to belong to a group of Palicourea species with adaptations for nocturnal pollination (Taylor et al., 2010). These species have been confused with Coussarea based apparently on the slender white nocturnal corollas and thin-walled pyrenes that are often solitary in the fruit due presumably to incomplete fruit development. Palicourea roseocremea is generally similar in particular to Palicourea pereziana and Palicourea alajuelensis.
