Distribution:

About 30 species occur in Europe and Asia. Only 2 species are reported from Pakistan.

Small, robust herbs. Leaves entire to deeply lobed; petioles winged. Scapes usually lateral to the leaf rosettes. Involucre phyllaries corniculate to cornute. Ligules yellow. Anthers polliniferous or not so. Styles and stigmas yellow to dull yellow or greenish. Cypselas greyish or greyish-straw brown. Cypselas 3 – 4.8 mm long, tuberculate all over or spinulose above; cone 0.5 – 1  mm long, abruptly or subabruptly formed; beak 7 – 12  mm long; pappus 5.5 – 8  mm long, white or creamish.

Outer phyllaries deep green, with a sharp transition into a  narrow, whitish membrarous border  c. 0.2 mm wide.

 

 

 

24.T. karakoricum

 

Outer phyllaries with middle part blackish green to dark  green, ca. 0.5 – 1.0 mm wide, with ± abrupt transition     into broad pale green to whitish green         border 0.3 – 0.9   mm wide.
