Project Data     (Last Modified On 9/9/2015)
Notes: This species is characterized by its somewhat slender habit, its leaves with the distinctive venation of Sect. Tricephalium and prolonged narrow tips, its rounded stipules with two small lobes, its small capitate inflorescences that are pedunculate and enclosed by four to eight free, ovate to lanceolate, yellow bracts, its rather well developed calyx imbs, its corollas with the lobes horned, and its somewhat large fruits. Palicourea schunkei is similar to Palicourea oleandrella and Palicourea flaviflora. Palicourea schunkei has also been confused with Palicourea zevallosii, which has two larger obtuse to rounded involucral bracts.
Distribution: Wet forest at 100-1300 m, in southern Central America, northwestern Colombia, and the western Amazon basin in Colombia, Ecuador, and northern Peru.
