Notes: This is a rather poorly known species, with medium-sized elliptic leaves, a subsessile to shortly pedunculate inflorescence with the flowers in an umbelliform cyme, short calyx limbs, and subglobose rather inflated fruits. The fruits are similar at a gland to those of Coussarea, and this species has been commonly misidentified as that genus but differs in its stipules with 1-2 linear deciduous lobes that are densely sericeous or lanose adaxially, vs. triangular and adaxially glabrous in Coussarea.
Distribution: Humid vegetation in southern Venezuela.
