Taxon Profile     (Last Modified On 12/8/2016)
Description : Flowers pale pink faintly marked on lower tepals, sometimes not opening fully. Filaments ± 6 mm long, exserted ± 2 mm. Style dividing just below apex of anthers. Flowering time: May and June.
Country : Mozambique
Distribution and ecology : subsp. occulta is evidently restricted to Mocuba and nearby on the edge of the coastal plain in north-central Mozambique; in mid-altitude forest and woodland on granite-derived soils.
Diagnosis : recognized by the pink perianth with the lower tepals fainly marked, the flowers not always opening fully, and the short filaments ± 6 mm long and exserted just ± 2 mm from the perianth tube, thus differing markedly from subsp. grandiflora, which has long filaments usually 15–20 mm long and exserted12–20 mm from the tube.. Although the tepals are normal in size and shape, they do not spread out fully and the flowers thus remain funnel-shaped.
