Notes:
This species is characterized by its hirsute pubescence, medium-sized leaves, somewhat small stipules that are united around the stem with two lobes on each interpetiolar side, terminal pedunculate capitate inflorescences enclosed by generally four, well developed (4-7 cm long), narrowly lanceolate, partially fused, red to yellow bracts, and medium-sized calyx limbs. It is similar vegetatively to Palicourea fanshawei, which is found in the same region.
