Notes:
Venturiella coronata
subsp.
coronata
has been reported from Africa, North, Central and South America, but it appears to be very rare in Asia (only in Thailand). The species, belonging to the section
Leptocalpe
, is characterized by the rounded-ovate, acute to short-acuminate leaves that are appressed when dry and by the mostly oblate-hexagonal inner laminal cells. These features are clearly distinguishable from
V. perrottetii
which belongs to the section
Stephanostoma
. Although
Erpodium mangiferae
, now a synonym of
Venturiella perrottetii
, was previously reported from Thailand (Touw 1968, Tixier 1971), the report was based on a misidentification.
