Notes: This species is characterized by somewhat small leaves, rather small laminar bilobed stipules, lax paniculiform inflorescences with the flowers borne singly or in groups of 2-3 and the axes regularly spreading at 90°, small white corollas that are gradually flared, and small blue fruits. Palicourea cairoana is similar to Palicourea longirostris.
Distribution: Wet forest at 280-1820 m, eastern Panama through northwestern Colombia.
