Notes: This species is characterized by its short stipules, medium-sized leaves, well developed peduncles, and medium-sized pink or red flowers. The flowers are perhaps unusual with the anthers and stigmas both positioned in the mouth of the corolla tube.
Distribution: Wet forest at 900-1800 m, at least sometimes on sandstone substrates, Amazonian drainage in in northeastern Ecuador and at 585-1350 m in central Peru.
