Comment/Acknowledgements : Fryer & Hylmö (l.c.) state that the flowers are white and not pink; the original description gives the flower colour as red/pink and colour of flowers on plant labels is also given as pink.

Deciduous shrub to 3 m. Branches arching, redish brown, sparsely pubescent to pilose, densely so and greysih green when young. Stipules ± 1 mm, linear-lanceolate, densely pilose; petiole 7-12 mm, densely white-pilose; lamina broadly ovate to almost suborbicular, 50‒100 × 32–72 mm, base broadly cuneate to rounded, apex acute to obtuse with an apiculate tip or emarginate; margins entire; upper surface darkish green, ± hairy on midrib, lower surface grey-green, pilose. Flowers in corymbose clusters on lateral shoots, each cluster with 3–5 flowers. Pedicel ± 1 mm, desnsely pilose. Hypanthium campanulate, densely pilose. Sepals broadly triangular, densely pilose. Petals pink, broadly ovate (apparently erect). Stamens as long as or slightly longer than the petals. Fruit ovoid, red (not seen).
