Notes: This species is characterized by well developed narrow stipule lobes, medium-sized leaves, pendulous inflorescences with well developed peduncles and the flowers in a subcapitate head that is surrounded by rather well developed narrow bracts, and white corollas that are straight and abruptly flared near the middle. The peduncles are geniculate, and the bracts are green to pink and become red and showy in fruit.
Distribution: Wet forest at 350-1000 m in northeastern Brazil (Bahia).
