Small, glabrous herb, up to 8 cm tall. Leaves greyish-green, c. 10 x 2.5 cm, linear to linear-lanceolate, 2-3-lobed on each side, lobes entire, triangular, c. 1 cm long, patent to slightly runcinate, terminal lobe longer, up to 2 cm long, entire, sagittate, acute to obtuse. Scapes 1-3, completely glabrous. Capitula 2 – 3  cm across. Involucre 10 x 6 mm, greenish; outer phyllaries appressed, small, 2.5 – 4  mm long, ovate. Ligules yellow with violaceous stripes outside. Anthers polliniferous. Styles and stigmas yellow. Cypselas fusiform, c. 4 mm long, yellowish-brown, gradually tapered into c. 1 mm long, conical-cylindrical cone; spinulose above; beak c. 5 mm long; pappus c. 5 mm long, white.
