Afghanistan, Pakistan, India to Mongolia.

Comment/Acknowledgements:

A plant of higher altitude, ascends from 4000-5000 m, grows near wet grassy lands, wet rocks near streams.

Perennial herb, c. 8 cm tall, compact, glabrous or subglabrous at base. Leaves lanceolate, 4 – 10  x 1 – 2  cm; shortly lobed, terminal lobe small, all lobes entire, patent; petioles broadly winged. Scapes 1 to few, as long as leaves, lateral, hairy above. Involucre c. 1.5 x 1.2 cm; outer phyllaries, linear-lanceolate, loosely appressed, dark coloured at tip, corniculate, with broad scarious, white margin; 6 – 7  x 2 mm; inner ones linear-lanceolate dark coloured at tip, cornute, c. twice the length of the outer phyllaries. Capitula 2.5 – 3.5 cm across, yellow, peripheral ligules with purple stripes outside. Anthers polliniferous. Style and stigma yellow to dull yellow. Cypsela 3 – 4  mm long, with 0.5 – 0.7 mm long, conical cone formed abruptly; beak 7 – 10  mm long; pappus white, 6 – 8  mm long.
