A small, slender, up to 12 cm tall herb. Leaves c. 8 cm long including pink, basally broadly winged petiole, greyish-green, lanceolate, minutely to grossly retrorsely dentate or lobed, lobes small, c. 6 mm long, recurved at apex, acute, triangular, entire or denticulate. Scapes few, equal to or longer than leaves, hairy above. Capitula 2 – 2.3  cm across. Involucre c. 10 x 6 – 8  mm, greenish; outer phyllaries loosely appressed, little recurved at apex, c. 6 mm long, lanceolate, broadly white marginate, pink or purple at apex; inner-ones linear, callose and purple at apex. Ligules yellowish, peripheral ones with dark grey stripes outside. Anthers polliniferous. Styles and stigma yellow to brownish-green. Cypselas brownish (immature ones yellowish-brown), c. 3 mm long, sharply spinulose above, rugose below, smooth at base, with somewhat abruptly formed, 1 – 1.2 mm long, cylindrical cone; beak c. 5 mm long; pappus c. 5 mm long, white.
