A small herb. Leaves greyish, lower surface hairy on the nerves, inner leaves lobed, lobes 3 on each side, trianglar, acute, interlobes dentate or denticulate, terminal lobe deltoid to sagittate; petiole narrow, pinkish. Scapes hairy above. Capitula c. 2.5-3 cm across. Involucre 10 x 15 mm; outer phyllaries lanceolate, 2 – 2.5 mm broad, recurved, with scarious margin, callose, dark purple at apex. Ligules spreading, yellow, peripheral ones estriate. Anthers polliniferous. Stigma greenish. Cypselas broad, c. 3.8 mm long, brownish, spinulose above, rugose below, smooth at base, with subaruptly formed, c. 1.2 mm long, cylindrical cone; beak c. 10 mm long; pappus c. 6 mm long, dull white.
