Type: Afghanistan: "Nuristan: Darrah-i Pengar 4 km infra Samanaknesha, 3000 m", 4 Sept 1969, Podlech 16580 (M, Iso-W).

Distribution :

Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Grows between 1000 and 3500 m on rocks,  crevices, cliffs, on gravel sandy soil, on wet places and along stream banks.

Comment/Acknowledgements :

Podlech’s Scariola orientalis (Boiss.) Sojak ssp. nuristanica Podlech, is based  on a different type,  not on Lactuca nuristanica Kitam.
