Large scrambling shrub, young shoots pubescent, older stem fluted and angled, prickles c.2.5 mm long, straight or hooked, occasionally absent on flowering branches. Stipules linear, caducous, not spinescent. Rachis 10-20 cm long, with a small, orbicular, sessile, pubescent gland near the base of the petiole and often similar glands between the upper 1-3 pairs of pinnae; pinnae 7-14 pairs, 5-10 cm long, sometimes with 1-3 small glands on the pinnae between the upper pairs of leaflets. Leaflets 6-40 pairs, c. 6-12 mm long, c. 2-4 mm broad, close and touching the adjoining leaflets, mostly acute, ciliate, glabrous above, hairy on the margin and on the nerves below. Inflorescence pedunculate, globose 20-30 flowered, heads arranged in large terminal panicle, the lower branches of which are axillary. Peduncle c. 1.5-2.0 cm long, with 1-3 branches; more or less glandular pubescent; bracts linear, acute, glandular pubescent; bracteole 1 mm long, minutely pube¬scent. Calyx 2-2.5 mm long, teeth pilose at the tip. Corolla 2.5-3 mm long, glabrous. Ovary glabrous, stipitate, stipe c.0.5 mm long. Pod c. 12.5-15.0 cm long, c. 2-3 mm broad, pubescent when young, glabrous when mature, flat, brown, sutures scarcely thickened.
