At least two Bolander specimens seem to correspond to original material of this species: Bolander 2847 has no locality on it but the first cited elevation, 8600 ft, and Bolander 6539 also lacks a locality and is variously labelled as collected at 8000 ft or 8000-10,000 ft; the citation in the protologue is just "Bolander", which does not seem to refer to either of these individual gatherings. The collection Bolander 6539 has been annotated as the type collection of this name, with a holotype in GH, but no designation that would serve as a lectotypification seems to have been formally published so these appear to remain syntypes.
