Description:
Plants 200–550 mm high. Corm conic, 12–15 mm diam.; tunics woody, ± imbricate, layers fragmenting into rectangular sections below and tapering into short cusps above. Stem unbranched. Leaves usually 4, lower 1 or 2 basal, longest, reaching to between middle of stem and apex of spike, ± linear, 2–3 mm wide, firm, ± erect, main vein prominently raised, margins lightly thickened, upper 2 leaves progressively smaller, uppermost partly to entirely sheathing. Spike mostly 2–5-flowered; bracts (20–)25–35(–42) mm long, green, inner slightly smaller than outer. Flowers diurnal, zygomorphic, pink, paler in throat; perianth tube 40–55 mm long, cylindric, curving outward distally, expanded near mouth; tepals ± vertically oriented, obovate-elliptic, (20–)25–37 × (6–)8–10(–12) mm. Filaments unilateral, declinate, 8–14 mm long; anthers ± parallel, facing dorsal tepal, 9–12 mm long, brown to purple; pollen brown to purple. Style branches arching below anthers, 15–25 mm long, exceeding anthers in closed flower. Capsules ± ellipsoid, 12–15 mm long. Seeds light brown, ± globose, 1.0–2.0 mm long, ± 1 mm diam., with narrow membranous wing at both ends. Flowering time: mainly late January to early March.
