Description: Plants ± 1 500 mm high, solitary or a few stems tufted together. Corm ± 25 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 55–110 mm long. Foliage leaves several, 600–900 × 4–8 mm; reduced sheathing leaves 3 or 4. Spikes pendulous, terminal 6–8-flowered, laterals (4)7 to 10, each 3–6-flowered; bracts elliptic, acute, 17–30 × 8–10 mm, less than two internodes long, flecked brownish all over but more lightly toward margins or sometimes whitish, lateral veins 5 each side of main vein. Flowers funnel-shaped, dark pink with purplish tube; perianth tube (8.5–)15–24 mm long; tepals (20–)33–46 × (8–)10–16 mm, ± conduplicate apically with tips recurved and twisted. Anthers 8.5–11.0 mm long. Stigmas held 11–24 mm below top of perianth. Flowering time: October to December.

Distribution and ecology: a narrow endemic extending from the Ouberg northwest of Graaff-Reinet and the Boschberg north of Somerset East; on grassy slopes among rocks and in scrub, from 1 200–1 300 m.
Diagnosis: occurring as solitary stems or small clumps with stems ± 1 500 mm tall, leaves 4–8 mm wide, and pendulous inflorescences of large, dark pink flowers with funnel-shaped perianth (30–)50–70 mm long, the tips of the tepals characteristically folded together, recurved and twisted.
