Annotation: Type annotation cont'd: Presumably the material at G qualifies as the holotype, but there are two sheets there with neither apparently annotated by Mueller and duplicates at other herbaria that could also have been seen by him so these are perhaps better considered syntypes.
Type-Protologue
Locality: Habitat in saxosis Serra da Lappa prov. Minarum
Collector and Number: Riedel 1091
Distribution: Brazil (Minas Gerais)
Note: The single collection cited in the protologue was listed as Riedel 1091, and this number is noted on at least one of the duplicate specimens (U in JSTOR!). The other duplicates seen were distributed labelled just with Riedel's name, including the two sheets at G where Muell. Arg. worked. Woodson (1951: 158) cited the type collection as "Riedel 1091", which has been regarded as a lectotypification but actually this citation corresponds directly to the protologue. He also cited four duplicates of this collection as specimens he studied, which does not satisfy the criteria for a lectotypification.
