Echites woodsonianus Monach., Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 86: 245. 1959; Prestonia woodsoniana (Monach.) A.H. Gentry.

Bejucos sufruticosos. Hojas oblongo-elípticas a oblongo-ovadas u oblongo-lanceoladas, 3–15 cm de largo y 1–5 cm de ancho, ápice acuminado, base redondeada u obtusa. Inflorescencia generalmente bifurcada en la base, con raquis delgado y algo en zigzag, flores rojizas o anaranjadas, a veces blancas o cremas; sépalos 1–2 mm de largo, acuminados; tubo de la corola 0.4–0.6 cm de largo, los lobos hasta 1 cm de largo, largamente caudados, densamente pubescentes. Frutos 30–32 cm de largo, delgados y teretes, glabros; coma de las semillas 3.8–4.2 cm de largo.

Localmente muy común en bosques secos, colectada solo en Chontales y en la Isla de Ometepe, Rivas; 50–800 m; fl may–ene, fr feb, abr; Neill 2488, Robleto 396; México, Nicaragua y Costa Rica.
