Note: Type collection series variously labelled as collected by Hassler, by Rojas, by Hassler [Rojas], by Rojas in Hassler, and/or by Hassler & Rojas, and cited by Hassler as collected by Hassler. Woodson (1951: 151) cited the type of this name as Hassler 10601, which seems to constitute a first-step lectotypification but he did not cite an individual specimen. Woodson also cited this variety as a synonym of Aspidosperma australe (1951: 151), but cited its type only as a specimen of A. tomentosum (p. 149).
