Additional material labelled Parry & Lemmon 138, 1876, has been annotated as the type of this name (e.g., US-1339132) but is not part of the type gathering, and in fact is a syntype of Mentzelia involucrata S. Wats., and was chosen as the lectotype gathering of that name.
