Shrub scandent; branchlets hairy, slender. Leaves opposite, simple, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, up to 5 cm long, pubescent on the nerves beneath, somewhat undulate; petiole short. Flowers scentless, 6-10 in terminal cymes. Calyx pubescent, teeth c. 5 mm, subulate. Corolla white, tinged with red outside, tube c. 1.5 cm long, lobes half the length of the tube or less, acute. Berry simple or didymous, globose, 6 mm in diam., black when ripe, surrounded by suberect subulate calyx teeth.
