Standard Note: Christenson (1996) considers the name of this taxon to be #B. longissima# ý(Rchbf. f.) Nash, on the basis of lack of pseudobulbs and leaves on the typeýspecimen and the size of the flowers. He reduced #B. arcuigera# to a synonymýof #B. lanceana# Lindl. The monograph by Williams (1970) is here followed.ýThe lateral sepals of the flowers vary from 10 cm in length (Western Ecuador)ýto more than 30 cm (Eastern Ecuador and most of rest of the range), but theývegetative characters and the nature of the other floral parts are stable
