Annotation: intended as a combination based on Epidendrum echinocarpon Sw. (1788), but that name is illegitimate; validly published as a nomen novum or new species name, but as such it is also illegitimate, for the same reason (citation of Limodorum pendulum Aubl. in synonymy), and also because it is a later homonym (of Cymbidium echinocarpon Sw.)
