Description
|
Coarse rhizomatous stoloniferous perennial, usually growing in large colonies; culms erect, reed-like, 2-5 m. high; sheaths glabrous, much longer than the inter- nodes; blades as much as 50 cm. long, 1-2.5 cm. wide, flat, firm, attenuate- pointed, with very scabrous margins; panicles 25-50 cm. long, plume-like, droop- ing, the branches naked below, densely villous in the lower axils; spikelets 12-20 mm. long; glumes unequal, the first 4-5 mm. long, the second 6-8 mm. long; lemma 10-13 mm. long, narrowly acuminate; rachilla hairs more than half as long as the lemma.
