Dichanthelium mattamuskeetense (Ashe) Mohlenbr.
Main stems with the nodes densely bearded with long,
spreading to downwardly pointed hairs. Leaf sheaths moderately to densely
hairy, without glandular spots. Leaf blades relatively broad, those of the
leaves toward the middle of the main stem 7–12(–15) mm wide, broadest at or
just above the base, moderately to densely hairy. Spikelets 1.8–2.5 mm long,
rounded at the tip, the upper glume and sterile lemma hairy. 2n=18. May–August (vernal), July–October (autumnal).
Uncommon, known only from a single
historical collection from Carter County (eastern U.S.
west to Missouri and Louisiana). Mesic upland forests.
