the US IT is intermediate between B. polyanthus and B. carinatus var. marginatus, but seems to favor B. polyanthus more than marginatus, as some culm nodes are pubescent, and the sheath throats have no more than a few short hairs on a few sheaths, the sheaths othewise glabrous, the lemmas are scabrous, the glumes 3 & 5 veined [rjs 2007]
