Annotation: From Rickett & Gilly, 1942: " This is obviously based on Pantcutm angustifolium Ell. although Gray made a double error in the cita tioln of the name-bringing synonym: "P. angustifolUlum Trin. Gram. Panic p. 223." On this page only two specific namnes appear: P. ancearium Trin. (which is the second synonylmi cited by Gray for the specimen now under discussion) and P. clandestinutm L. It would seem quite logical to assume that the "223" of Gray's citation is merely a typographical error for 234, on which page P. angustifolittm Ell. is mentioned; and that in accrediting the species P. anrtjstifolinum to Trinius he was merely following the common practice of that day, of referring to a publicatioli at hand which con-tained a description of a species origin-ally published by another author ."
