Annotation: spelling of epithet is correct as published; the genus name Trichomanes is neuter, and Swartz's adjectival epithets in Trichomanes were consistently neuter; however, a neuter adjective based on the Greek "anthos" (meaning "flower") would have been "polyanthon," therefore "polyanthos" must be understood as a neuter substantive epithet (see Nicolson, 1986; Taxon 35: 327, Ex. 1), the gender of which is independent of the generic name
