Rizoma erecto; hojas estériles y fértiles sub­di­mor­fas; hojas estériles 10–20 cm de largo, agrupadas, pecíolo 1/4–3/4 de la longitud de la lámina, café-rojizo a oscuro, tricomatoso, lámina 1-pinnada, 7–16 (–23) pares de pinnas laterales y una pinna terminal con­forme, pinnas elípti­cas, cortamente pediculadas, bases cunea­das a sub­cordiformes, ápices agudos, márgenes enteros, con tricomas aciculares cortos y tricomas multi­celulares largos; hojas fértiles 25–60 cm de largo; nervios completamente libres (1- ó 2-bifurcados).
Bosques secos y rocosos; Moreno 11246, Neill 933NT; 100–600 m; México a Bolivia y Brasil, Jamaica.
